Akwa-Ibom State Government dissolves Executive Council

The Akwa-Ibom State Government just released a preset statement in which it dissolved the State's Executive Council Read below the press Statement. PRESS RELEASE Dissolution of the State Executive Council. His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor, Akwa Ibom State has approved the dissolution of the State Executive Council with immediate effect. The Governor expresses his deep and profound appreciation for the contributions of the EXCO members to the development of the state, and wishes them success in their future endeavours. Permanent Secretaries in the respective ministries are to take over the running of the ministries pending the reconstitution of a new Executive Council. Sir. A source from the Directorate of State Services has given five names out of the 21 expected of the released Chibok Secondary School Girls 1. Deborah Ja'afaru 2. Maryam Lawan, 3. Jummai John 4. Maryam Basheer 5. Comfort Amos More to come. 

Senate Extends JAMB Result Validity to 3 years

The Senate today Thursday 13th October, 2016 has passed the amendment to the law establishing the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. The law now extends the validity of the result of the board’s examination from one year to three years.

President Muhammadu Buhari departs for Germany After release of Chibok Girls

The President just departed for an official visit in Germany, this comes after the release of the Chibok Girls. He was briefed by the Director General of the State Security Service, Mr Daura at the Presidential Villa. After the Commanders of the Islamic Sect, Boko Haram released the girls during a prisoner swap deal, which saw the 21 girls swapped for four battle Commanders of the terrorist group.

Twenty one of the more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Islamist Boko Haram insurgents in April 2014 has been released to the Nigerian government, a government source told SaharaReporters. The sources disclosed that the girls were picked up by military helicopter from Banki area of Borno state where Boko Haram militants dropped them off earlier today. The release of the 21 girls comes as President Buhari began a three-day trip to Germany to discuss assistance for the rebuilding of the northeastern part of Nigeria ravaged by Boko Haram. Citizens Reporters could not immediately obtain the names of the girls released today.
